The SPRING CONCERT is dedicated to the remarkable figure and composer Alma Mahler (1879–1964), whose 60th anniversary of her passing is marked in 2024. This recital paints a musical portrait of a confident woman from the early 20th century. Her complex relationships reflect the cultural and creative currents of the era, musically expressed through works of late Romanticism, modernism, symbolist contemplation, and Viennese salon music, semi-staged in a Viennese café.
Performing are the locally based soprano FRANZISKA HEINZEN and her piano partner BENJAMIN MEAD: musical partnership, immediacy, and great enthusiasm for discovery characterise this song duo. With finely curated programmes ranging from standard repertoire to classical and contemporary works, the song duo is a welcome guest at international festivals and concert series. Their highly acclaimed discography documents their artistic versatility and innovative programme design. In February 2023, their third CD Lieder us um Tal – An Hommage to Swiss Art Song was released on Prospero.
