    KIERAN WHITE TENOR

    CÉDRIC MEYER LUTE

  • Marking the 400th anniversary of the deaths of John Dowland and John Danyel, this intimate concert brings together tenor Kieran White and lutenist Cédric Meyer in a refined selection of English lute songs, or “Ayres,” once cherished by courts and nobility around 1600.

These works unite music and poetry in deeply expressive miniatures shaped by love, melancholy, and subtle emotional nuance.

The program is enriched by solo lute pieces that provide contrast and highlight the instrument’s expressive range. Close contemporaries, Dowland and Danyel were among the most celebrated musicians of their time, active across England and Europe.

The performance gains a unique authenticity through Meyer’s handcrafted Renaissance lute, carefully designed to match the voice’s range and colour.

Together, the artists create a moving concert experience that reveals the timeless beauty of this repertoire.
