ALPINE HUNTSMAN
A musical and literary flight across the Alps
The mountains have long stirred the imagination of artists from every discipline – even Beethoven, Schubert, and Liszt could not resist their poetic power. Together, we lace up our hiking boots, shoulder our backpacks, and follow a young Romantic on his journey – both outward and inward – across the Alps: from secluded villages to snow-covered peaks, from shadowed valleys to radiant sunlight, from ignorance to insight, from melancholy to hope.
Tenor Tristan Blanchet, a native of Valais, and Armenian pianist Arman Grigorian met during their studies at the Haute École de Musique in Lausanne, and have since devoted themselves to their shared passion: the art of song.
In their LIEDERGARTEN you’ll hear works by Ludwig van Beethoven (To the Distant Beloved), a selection from Franz Schubert’s rich song repertoire, and Franz Liszt’s settings of Schiller – and if you listen closely, might that be an alphorn echoing in the distance...?
