AN IMMERSIVE FESTIVAL FOR THE ART OF SONG
Set in the middle of the Swiss alps the RHONEFESTIVAL brings to life exceptional programmes showcasing Swiss and international artists committed to the art of Song such as Hartmut HÖLL, Rachel HARNISCH or Äneas HUMM. With carefully curated programmes, new concert formats and special concert venues, the festival aims at building an immersive and sustainable platform immortalising the delicate world of Lieder.
Besides sociocultural conceived programmes ranging from Schubert to contemporary music in traditional concert venues, the RHONEFESTIVAL consciously reaches out to potential audiences across genres with open-air concerts or unusual performing venues. Hereby, the festival allows the attendance of several concerts within a short space of time forming a festival community across generations.
Always searching for ways to evolve, next year’s edition will see the launch of the audience engagement prize #LIEDINNOVATION encouraging artists and audience to go beyond existing borders. The winning project will be brought to life in a local cultural bistro approaching a new public and an audience not yet accustomed to the world of song.
In addition, the RHONEFESTIVAL has established a relationship with the platform „Les Concerts du Coeur“. Together they will bring Lieder to a range of social facilities (hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes) reaching those people who may need the joy and comfort of music the most.
The central idea is free admittance to all concerts (donations are asked for at the end of each concert), trying to suppress inhibition thresholds from the start. This aims at allowing all interested parts of society

SUPPORT THE FESTIVAL
It is primordial to have the support of donors in advance enlarging the community with their generous offer of supporting the best possible artists for the festival. Especially for the sensitive art of song and classical concerts outside the big cultural centers, this concept facilitates access and lets the arts flourish. We are happy if you get in touch HERE for supporting the festival.
The town of Brig in the canton of Wallis provides a perfect recital hall in a baroque castle, surrounded by beautiful nature and unites Swiss, as the main concert venue.
